Why is it...?

Panda Anti Virus Company accepted my money to pay for there services but the antivirus protection has not worked properly at all and they have yet to fix it and its been almost a year now. Alot of un-anwsered tech support e-mails. Can someone give me any advice on how to get this resolved/fixed?... because I have paid for this service and tecnically I am not getting it, at least not totally what I paid for. Can someone also tell me a better antivirus company to switch to when my subscription is over with panda.

What antispywere do you prefer to use?

As a result of using Internet I had massive problems with Spywares and viruses. I installed a toolbar and it came packaged with spyware and clutter up my browser with useless buttons. It happened quite a long time ago and I just tolerated that. But the serious problems started when I opened unknown email letter. One of virus on my computer was a really invasive spywere and made me to think seriously about doing something. I tried to delete some files I considered to be bad in a safe mode but it didn鈥檛 work. I thereafter routinely ran several antispyware programs, none of which eradicated the spyware totally. I've tried some protection systems, the free ones. As I鈥檓 not very experienced in that case I used the most typical programs. While trying different anti-viruses and anti-spyweres I downloaded the Spy-Shredder. I just wanted to put in a good word for the program. Actually it鈥檚 a great program and it helped me much. I have not had a spyware infection since I switched over to it and I haven't had any unwanted pop-ups either. I wanted to thank the guys who made the anti-spywere. I spent so many hours solving problems of my computer and trying to delete malicious stuff from it. Just love the program!

Depends on how the virus protection is. If it's good, then yeah one is enough.

Hey mate, this question has been asked ten thousand times and I'm not kidding. Use one anti virus program only. Enter "antivirus help" in the box above (search for questions) for those ten thousand answers.
Hi guy ,

Try to install one antivirus , i suggest you Nod 32 or Kaspersky , then install a program for malware like spyware doctor .

Good luck .
Did you try to use ALL the anti-viruses mentioned above? If yes, then it's a very bad idea. Anti-viruses conflict with one another, so you must never use more than one anti-viruses together. Now uninstall EVERY anti-virus that you have got and then restart your computer. Then, go to these sites and pick an anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall of your choice:

What should I do?

I am considering deleting Norton Internet Security 2007 and downloading either AVG or Avast for antivirus protection. Also, to take care of spyware, I was planning on downloading Spybot Search and Destroy. Would this be a smart thing to do, or should I just stick with Norton?

The Internet Security programs supposedly gives me firewall, spyware, and virus protection so I would be deleting it and replacing it with antivirus (AVG/Avast) and anti-spyware (Spybot) but then I do not know if I would have a firewall. The reason I am doing this is because Norton only finds a cookie or two when I run a full system scan, while other free scanners find hundreds of problens. So basically I am wondering if I should do this or keep Norton, or maybe you have an even better suggestion...I just want to make this computer faster.

I already bought Norton, but I would definitely switch to some freeware program if it speeds up my computer.

Thank you in advance for your help!

What should I do?network

First of all, do you have a virus? If not, sticking with Norton is a good idea but if you want extra protection don't, delete Norton because its actually very good. You can just download the extra spy ware protection but i don't think you need any more. (i use norton and had no problems)

Why do you always have a go at norton products?

i had mcafee internet security suite and it slowed my pc down and giving me buffer overflow problems and more. since getting rid of it, i have installed norton internet security 2008 and norton system works. since installing these my laptop has been so much better, faster (like new) and had no problems. it is really nice to have a descent fast laptop with no problems. when i use the norton to scan and it finds tracking cookies, it does find them all because i use avg anti spy afterwards and that finds nothing. it shows norton is good and my laptop runs at top fast performance. also i have been told that all these free programs they people use for anti virus, malware etc etc are really not THAT good. because they are free, you don't get a good protection unless you pay for it and people i know that has these free products do get problems and viruses eventually. so if you pc is protected by loads of free programs, you will pay for it in the end as they do eventually mess up your pc

Why do you always have a go at norton products?nortan

Thats fine, if your having a good experience with Norton carry on using it, I know many many people who have had the same bad experience you had with Mcafee AND norton. Years of experience as taught me to keep everything simple and you will never have any problems with your computer. Here are the program that I use. Remember that you can only use one antivirus program or you will have serious conflict with your system. You can use two or three antispyware programs without conflict. Usually one will find what the other misses.

Here is what I use in two computer and they use little or no resources and I always 100% clean and I keep it simple.

Antivirus free from AOL Active Virus Shield, powered by Karpersky Lab. Russia. Rated # 1 in the world for virus detection. You get auto updates every hour, background scanner, that works also on bootup and shutdown. Three ways to scan. Your initial scan on installation will be your entire system and this will take some time, but worth the time. You don麓t have to belong to AOL. I have no relationship with them. They will send you a free registration key with your email.

Deleting Norton?nortin

Personally, I'd delete anything to do with Norton's from my system. It's ok in a corporate enviroment or if you are running a high end spec'd machine but for your average home user it is resourse hungry and will attempt to chew away at every bit of your memory/cpu as possible.

If you are going to remove Norton's from your system you need to do it properly, any remnant's left behind while uninstalling will conflict with any new anti virus (and in some case's) spyware programs you wish to install at a later date.

Trend Micro PC-cillin had been a high rated Internet Security Software for Home and Office that has blocked out spam and quarentined virus. They also have great online services.

i have heard that it is wise to run a manual anti virus / spyware scan about once a week, does this include programs with real time protection? aren't they already scanning your system?

A question about real time prortection?norton 2008

Not if you are running Norton/Symantec.Norton couldn't find its butt with both hands. It is by far the worst.Try looking webroot.I had NIS 2008 running supposed to pick up viruses and such.Nothing.Running very sluggish.Downloaded webroot found 475 spywares and 7 trojan viruses. They,Norton, gave ,me a cockamamy story about how it can't catch all.I am now looking at either Kaspersky or Panda Internet Security. To me you should run virus scan manually daily. Also might be a good idea if you do your bills/banking online to run a credit report once a month for identity fraud.

A question about real time prortection?pop up blocker

I use Twister Trojan Antivirus Beijing, China. http://www.filseclab.com I have 24/7 real time background scanner that will kill in a second a web page I open that has hidden embedded viruses or adware. Plus the scanner scans the memory on boot up.

I usually run once per week a manual in depth scan just in case the background scanner missed a virus or nasty adware. And the scanner the odd time will find adware or usually nothing.

Always good to be on the safe side.

I keep getting pop ups for spyware, adware and ucleaner..why?

Whenever I turn on my Sony Vaio laptop message windows start popping up saying that Windows IE (Internet Explorer) has detected adware, spyware and it's infecting my computer and to click OK to clean my computer. I usually just close the window but IE opens up with an advertisement from Ucleaner and it won't go away. I can't use my laptop because their are soo many pop-ups it's impossible. I see icons on my desktop, that I didn't install, such as Error Cleaner and Adware%26Spyware Protection but when I go to control panel and try to uninstall them they aren't on the list. I scanned my PC with anti-spy and anti-virus and it deleted three viruses. I updated my toolbar, Windows and my yahoo account but IE won't quit. I deleted my temp files and my cookies. My question is..could I uninstall IE and/or reinstall it because that is where I think the problem is at? I don't use IE search engine I use yahoo but IE has a mind of it's own.

Please help.

Do I need IE on my PC?

I keep getting pop ups for spyware, adware and ucleaner..why?norton internet security

Sounds like you have a pretty bad spyware infection. Firstly don't click on "ok" to clean my computer, its highly likely that is a hoax, to get you to download even more spyware/malware.

Check out this page and follow all the advice:-

What should I be sure I do to upgrade to high speed internet?

My son wants me to upgrade to high-speed internet so he can download music faster to his ipod. I am concerned about what I need in terms of firewalls and spyware blockers and anti-virus and computer hackers. I am running Webroot's Spysweeper with anti-virus and SystemSuite's Netdefense firewall on my dialup connection right now. Should I consider better programs than these?

He also wants to have a wireless LAN in the house. How do I prevent someone from tapping in to that?

We are considering BellSouth's DSL because I can combine my cell, home phone and dialup accounts for about the same money and still get this high-speed connection. I just need to purchase the necessary hardware and software protection. By the way, BellSouth offers a firewall at $10/month. Would that be better advised than buying some third-party firewall such as Norton?

Why is all this stuff so complicated?

What should I be sure I do to upgrade to high speed internet?norton

What you have is sufficient......I would not pay BellSouth for firewall protection as there is no reason for it. The fact that the connection will be running through an external piece of hardware (the high speed modem) makes it, by definition, a hardware firewall...if it has wireless built-in then it'll have firewall settings built-in as well. If you have to get seperate equipment, i.e. your own wireless router, you will be doubling up on hardware firewalls, and the programs you already have are going to still be running the software firewall/anti-virus protection anyways. High speed connections are just a different way to connect to the internet, so if you feel you have protection through your dialup porgrams already installed, the only thing that is going to change is how you connect.

What firewall Am I using on my computer?

I have Windows XP Home with their built in firewall. I recently installed Norton Anti Virus (Paid version). A pop up window from norton asked me if I would like norton to take over the firewall operation (recomended), in which I clicked yes. Now since then I've installed Windows Defender. So what I want to know is Windows Defender doing the firewall protection or is norton or both? When I go into the norton program, it says Firewall Protection is ON. When I go into the Windows Defender program it also says Firewall Protection is ON. Are both firewalls working at the same time? If they are not which firewall should I use?

What firewall Am I using on my computer?panda

Have you got Norton anti-virus or Norton Internet Security Suite or Norton System Works? Only the Internet Security Suite comes with a firewall, so if you have got that, then you are most probably using Norton firewall. And Windows Defender does not come with a firewall (it provides real-time scanning for spyware). To check things out, go to Control Panel %26gt; Security Center. There, you will see which firewall is on. If both Norton and Windows Firewall are on, then you will also see a warning. If you see the warning, then go to Control Panel %26gt; Windows Firewall %26gt; Turn off Windows Firewall. That will leave Norton's firewall protecting your computer.

:)

Hope my answer is not confusing, I think it has become firewallish!!

AVG is the best free anti-virus program around. I would strongly suggest using it rather than Rogers or Norton.

I have used AVG since 1998 and have NEVER had a problem with a virus. AVG is free to home users. It updates itself automatically whenever you are on-line without you having to do a thing.

Whenever you click on a Web page or attempt to download anything that has a virus, a giant screen pops up and notifies you.

Those viruses have destroyed the internet connection to that computer (not literally) so any direct internet connection answer like updating anti-virus software or a internet scan wont work. if I can't copy it to cd and then transfer it, it wont help.

Apparently it came from one of those fake security alert pop-up boxes that go to the malicious web-site even though you click on cancel (drivecleaner, for example) and someone installed it. How good is Zone Alarm Security Suite?

I have been using Zone Alarm Security suite for almost 1 year. Only thing bad I found in it is it slows the computer when it boots up in other words, the computer takes more time to boot and get ready for the user to work. (atleast 50-80 seconds extra) compare to the normal boot up. The eficienty of detecting the viruses is very superb. The firewall is excellent, very easy to configure and good in real protection.

so has any body used it or using it?? do you recommend me using this again? I'm currently using Avast Professional Anti-virus and in built windows firewall.

Also tell, how's Kaspersky Security Suite, Bitdefender Security Suite and Macfee Internet Security Suite.

How good is Zone Alarm Security Suite?product key

I am 100% against the all in one security suites. The reason is logic. If one antispyware, one antivirus and one firewall have all they can do to keep your PC 100% clean, how do you expect an all in one software to protect. (Not possible in my opinon, as a beta tester for just about every security software).

I am 100% against what is know as "total security". Just think how hard it is for one antivirus, antispyware, firewall to keep your system secure. Logic will tell you that "total security", can no way keep all these security risk secure.

Here is the data on the antivirus that I have used for the past ten years. An I am required by law due to my profession to keep my PC's 100% clean. I use an antivirus from Beijing, China. You pay only a one time fee of $29.99 for life for each PC, includes 7 or 8 daily auto. updates plus all new versions or life.

Norton Anti-virus for software machine installation.
A lot of people critisise Norton but I have had no problems, I would recomend it my computer has never been as healthy.
Ditch Zone Alarm. More trouble than it's worth, especially on early versions of Windows (e.g. '98). Norton these days appears next to useless, at least on Windows 2000.Highly recommend AVG anti-virus and Ad-Aware anti-spy as freebies. McAfee is currently the best commercial a/v software. Forget Sophos a/v, it tells lies, as does their Tech Support (Yes this may be libellous but I can back up the statement with evidence Your Honour). Not all anti-spyware programs catch everything so you might want to experiment with several.

Spybot - Search %26 Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S%26D is free.

What is import and how do you use this feature?spyware remover

I'll try to answer your questions as best I can. I'm not too smart when it comes to computers so here's what I know. It can be very dangerous to have two different anti-virus programs running at the same time. They can see one another as a threat and they try to eliminate each other. Your computer can go into a loop and actually crash so you can't do anything else. It's very wise to remove an existing anti-virus before trying to install another.

Click start %26gt; control panel %26gt; add/remove programs. Scroll down until you see McAfee. Click on the name to highlight it and you should see a button to Change, Remove, or Uninstall. Click on the button and follow the prompts. If you don't see McAfee listed in the Add/Remove section, click start %26gt; all programs and look through your main menu and sub-menus for McAfee. When you find it, right click on the name and you should get a shortcut menu with an Uninstall or Remove option. You might also see something called ReadMe. The ReadMe file gives info about the program including uninstall instructions. I'd suggest reading this before doing the actual uninstall from the menu. Once you've read the instructions you should be able to just click uninstall and follow the prompts. If you don't see McAfee in the Add/Remove section or anyplace in the menu, I'd suggest contacting McAfee for their expert advice. This link will take you to McAfee and there's a "contact us" link at the top right.

Yahoo says i need to down load IE defender to find and remove the problem. When I down load IE defender it says I have some Trojan virus and malware problems, but Norton says different. My Internet surfing is completely slowed and I get a Microsoft warning every 30 seconds to fix the problem. I only run into slowing problems and rerouting to different sites on the internet. When I'm offline, I have no problems or slowing. My Norton Protection center says all is secure but my HP Total Care Advisor says it does not have a anti virus programm installed and that the fire wall is off. Hi,

How important is a firewall?

In setting up protection on my computer, I have been advised to get a firewall or 2 - when I already have an anti-virus, and two anti-spywares. 1) What is a firewall? 2) What does a firewall do that the others do not do? 3)What is the best commercial (pay) firewall; and what is the best free firewall?

How important is a firewall?stinger

A firewall is very important---if you have Internet Access. Its like a big brick wall with some bricks removed. The allowed programs go through the holes while the viruses and harmful programs bounce of the wall. Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware find programs already in your computer and destroy them, while the firewall keeps them out in the first place. The best firewall is the one that comes with Windows XP. Click on Start, Control Panel, Security Center, Windows Firewall, and On. You should not pay for a firewall because they are not worth it, just use the free one that comes with XP!

How important is a firewall?virus scanner

There are two types of firewalls, hardware and software and nominally you should have both, hardware at home, software for when you are not at home (on a laptop). If you want to buy a router, any of them come with a hardware firewall which is the best solution for a laptop or desktop, whether they are on a wired or wireless connection.

Are the FREE Internet security softwares sufficient to fully protect my PC?

I know that there has been other questions regarding internet security/antivirus protection, etc. but I was wondering if I can get some feedback on the free internet security softwares out there. I am thinking of switching from Norton Internet Security, which has anitivirus, firewall, antispam, e-mail scanning and the whole lot, and replacing them with all FREE:

AVG Anti-Virus or AVAST

ZoneAlarm -basic network and program firewall

Windows Defender

and running weekly:

Ad-Aware SE personal

Spybot Search and Destroy

Will all this be enough to protect my computer? Will I get the same amount of protection that I currently have with Norton? I think Norton is okay and it seems to provide me with at least a sense of security but I am tired of paying the subscription fee. I'd like to know what people use and recommend out there.

Thanks!!

Are the FREE Internet security softwares sufficient to fully protect my PC?suzuki

Hi there,

Instead of all these "Mine is better than yours" answers that go on around here, I'll instead answer with the facts.

Quite simply - Yes, Norton IS much better than AVG and Avast plus any other free utilities.

Looking at current protection ratings, AVG scores a lowly 90% protection against all known viruses, whilst Avast comes in at 92%. This means they are letting through one in every ten viruses - pretty shocking.

Any body else using Yahoo! Online Security Suite? Or am I the only idiot out there?

Ok, I just got the ATT High Speed Internet Service and it comes with Yahoo! Online Security including Anti-Virus, Pop-up Blocker, and Anti-Spyware. Before, I had McAfee 2004. I had to remove it for Yahoo's Security. Yahoo Security is turned on with all features enabled. I'm starting to regret this because now I'm getting more pop-ups and having serious problems. Anybody else having these problems? Can anyone recommend a good security program with firewall protection?

Do I have enough security?

Norton has expired. I have downloaded free edition of AVG anti virus and Ewido anti spyware. Also have Spybot and Spyware Terminator installed. Is this enough security so I can uninstall whats left of Norton protection. Will I have a firewall in the AVG/ Ewido?

Do I have enough security?symatec

AVG is brilliant.

Not used Ewido, but I've heard good reviews.

Spybot - do you mean Spybot Search and Destroy? If so, it's excellent.

Not used Spyware Terminator, but I've heard more negative reviews than positive.

You won't have a firewall (except for Windows XP's built in one, if you use Win XP with SP2). Zone Alarm, like a lot of people have mentioned, is excellent. http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co...

On top of all that, I'd be tempted to uninstall Spyware Terminator and install Ad-Aware SE instead (or as well if you don't want to uninstall Spyware Terminator) http://www.download.com/3000-2144-100459...

Once you've done that, you should be OK uninstalling Norton. Just beware that occasionally, when uninstalling Norton (especially if it includes Norton's Firewall) that some people have reported their internet connection stops working. If it does, don't panic, just check your connection setting and the setting on your new firewall.

I know I "F'ed" up cause I know better then that, like they say surfing the net without protection is like having sex without protection you never know what you are going to get. Story short I bought the new Internet security suite I have always used I ran all the programs in the software to disinfect my computer but it didnt work. I dont know what to do, use or where to take it to fix my computer the only reason I want to fix this computer is cause that computer is what I use to upload and manage my itune library. Any suggestions on what to do or where to take the computer to get it fixed I would appreciate any serious suggestions. Thanks

Hello.

You've gotten a lot of complicated answers. Have you tried simply going into restore to an earlier date ? Go back about 2 weeks into your restore calender and let it do it's thing. If it gets rid of the problem, don't look the gift horse in the mouth, run with it. Get your anti virus thing going again and don't screw it up the same way again (you'll do it soon enough in a different way, we all have). I hope this works for

It put a pipmon.exe corrupted file into my system32 Folder and it keeps popping itself in my systray with "Your computer is at risk and infected with a virus, would you like to update and install Live Virus Protection or something along those lines.

Sounds like something is killing Norton. Try running Norton again in Safe Mode. Safe Mode often prevents malware from protecting itself.

Also, turn off System Restore to evict any copies of bad stuff that might be lurking there.

To get into Safe Mode:

1.Log out and reboot your machine.

2.When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.

3.Select Safe Mode from the resulting menu.

4.When the login screen comes up, log in as Administrator. By default, Administrator has no password.

5.The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will look different. You won't be able to see the Internet, for instance.

6.When you're finished, log out and reboot back into normal mode.

Note that even if the anti-malware programs get rid of the malware, they may not be able to reverse the effects.

Good luck.

ZoneAlarm Internet Security vs Kaspersky Internet security?

I have used Kaspersky Internet security 6.0 and liked it a lot. However I used the same activation code on 3 different computers not thinking they would notice, however kaspersy did and they stopped updating on the extra computers....So I am now going to buy protection for the other 2 computers. I have read that ZoneAlarm Internet security 7.0 uses Kaspersky anti virus and I can buy a copy with an activation code for 3 users which looks looks like a great value...

Is ZoneAlarm internet security 7.0 just as good as kaspersky internet security 6.0? If not can you please tell me the cons of Zonealarm. Thanks a lot

It has more traces and is much better on computer space. Even the FBI use Kasper sky, so it cant be that bad... PS I also use it and it hasn't failed me once.

i have always used norton and this time i bought kaspersky. i did a lot of research and found that kaspersky is basiacally #1. if you need protection for more than one computer i am pretty sure that kaspersky has something like that. i have also found that it runs in the background and doesn't interrupt any other programs when it is doing a scan. i have been very happy with it.

Which AntiVirus is not a Resource Hog?

I have been using antivirus software(s) (norton, bullguard, antivir, etc) in my system for sometime now. Their only problem is large use of computer resources, i think its because of their "real time protection" feature. But in order to be safe we need to be protected, now the question is, which anti virus software use less memory?

Trend Micro's Pc-Cillin is what I believe the other person is referring to. That is very good. Computer Associates allows a free year trial of ETrust Antivirus which equaled Pc-Cillin for low system drag, but does not come with the extras (firewall, etc) that Pc-Cillin has. Two reviews and a link to the free trial are in sources.

I'm using Norton AV 2005 + Firewall and I don't have any such problem. It all depends upon your hardware (my configuration is Intel Celeron + 512 MB RAM + 40 GB hard disk) and RAM, and other installed software (again I'm using Office 12, FireFox, Thunderbird and other small utilities).
By far its nod32 by eset. It is awesome its not as mainstreem but your welcome to read reviews it works very good. Its not all the graphical in the first place but you can even turn to to basic text too.
i am using Trend product which is quite good...

Whenever I use my PC "security warning", saying that PC is infected with "worm.win32.netsky" appearsvirus scan

Worm.win32.netsky is NOT a real virus. That warning is fake. It is a scam to attempt to get you to purchase a rogue malware removal product. The balloon about "Your computer is infected" or "System Alert", is always false, phony and fradulant. The actual trojan that has caused your problem is no doubt one of the hundreds (now in the thousands)of varients of what is commonly called "Zlob".

Your computer is indeed infected. This infection is called Smitfraud and it will give you phony scam virus warnings( and often redirect you to a site selling a bogus anti virus product), trying to sell you junk such as Pest Capture, Pest Trap, Virus Burst, Spyware Quake,Virus Heal and other non working anti virus apps.

Information and procedure sand a free removal tool for the removal of Smitfraud are here:

System Tray? Hey, it is isn't there... just maybe your Anti-virus solution doesn't. Or MAYBE, it isn't working. We are talking about the system tray, which includes the CLOCK.

Always tell us what brand that you are using. If you have Norton, then for gosh sakes TELL US. Someone could probably tell you exactly how to turn something back ON.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

How can I put something in the system tray on my pc?anti virus software

OK right click on the tray properties then then on the bottom it says customize then pick always show...
the software should put it there by default. You can check it isn't in the list of inactive icons - right click on the taskbar, choose properties; at the bottom right click customise. Find the software (it it's in the list) and change it to 'Always show'.
Which anti-virus do you use?? I can't help you much unless you name it. Anyway, go to it's Settings and search for an option to make it visible in the System Tray while it's running.
First, check your start-up programs to be sure it is listed and is active. You can do it from start-%26gt;accessories-%26gt;system tools. But an even better way is to use a start-up manager. Lots available for free. Spy Bot Search and Destroy has one in advanced view-%26gt;tools. The advantage of that is that you can start and stop things from loading and if you do not like your decision you can change it easily.

Follow the steps on the following page

http://www.cybertopcops.com/malicious-so...

It rather looks like a spyware infection than a virus infection and anti-virus products are not designed to remove spyware. So you might want to try out some anti-spyware scanners.

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html

The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at

http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html
most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

All sorts of problems with my computer spyware and I dont know what else...?

The alert that's showing you the infections doesn't exist. It's a rogue program trying to bilk you. Nevertheless, you do have a Smitfraud infection. Follow the instruction to remove. Scroll down to "Removal Instructions:" Also try out RogueRemover, and both of these programs are free to use.

You computer has a serious Vundo infection causing this.

The specialized removal tool called RogueRemover is said to remove it:

Use the free version. There is absolutely no reason to use the paid, "Pro" version when you want to remove only.

Good luck.

i had the same problem awhile back. heres what i did: i downloaded "ccleaner". you can go to their wesite and download the free version, it cleaned out all that garbage, now my pc works fine. when you get "ccleaner" make sure you check all the boxes and then run the "cleaner", it should put you back where you want to be and watch out for those adult sites, they're full of malware and all kinds of other stuff. hope this helps, good luck.

Wireless security?

I have just gone wireless %26 bought a laptop,I understand that the modem/gateway gives me a firewall protection while working at home but do I need to instale a security program such as norton security for use when using hot spots away from home the laptop came with Norton anti virus instaled %26 I am using windows XP

Wireless security?adware

better go for zonealarm firewall or better will be bitdefender antivirus pro

Wireless security?antivirus scan

Here is a cool security trick for a wireless system. Once you know that you can connect to the wirles router. Go into the router and disable the ssid. The ssid is what brodcasts its address and that it is available. Once disabled know one but you will know about the wirless network.
I would suggest a second firewall anyway. If you have norton security that would be better than the standard windows one.
There is no such thing as too much security. You should always have some sort of antivirus program on any computer that you use. I really don't care for Norton, but having some form of protection is better than no protection at all. As for firewalls, the firewall in the gateway is fine. This stops unwanted traffic coming in. You should also have a firewall for stuff that goes out of your computer. If you have Windows XP, then you already have one. It is built in to the operating system. Windows Firewall is located in the control panel. Click on Windows Firewall in the control panel, then click the button that says 'on' to turn it on, then click OK. If you don't like Norton Antivirus, then Microsoft Windows Defender is a good program to use. It gets rid of viruses, worm, trojans, spyware, malware, and any other type of malicious software. This program is a free program and the updates are also free. This program can be downloaded at http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security... is very easy to use and doesn't have a lot of configuration screens, plus it doesn't bug you all of the time, which comes in handy when your trying to get work done. It only bugs you when very important things happen that need your attention. So far, it hasn't bothered my at all. It just does its job and leaves me alone. The suggestions that I mentioned above work on desktops as well. I hope this was helpful.Security software should always be running at all times even if you are not on a wireless connection.
If you add a second firewall, make sure to disable the built in one from Windows. If someone wants in, they will get in, trust me on that.

How do I know if I have a trojan horse on my computer?

Earlier today when I went to a website my McAfee virus protection said something about a trojan horse being on my computer (I tried to delete it and quarantine it but it wouldn't allow me to). Since then I've been running every diagnostic trojan horse program that I can find. The problem is that none of them say that I have a trojan horse except for one (anti trojan elite). How can I tell if I have one on my computer?

How do I know if I have a trojan horse on my computer?agv

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html

The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at

WinXp Firewall AND Outpost Firewall ??

hello

id like to know, is it ok if i have the WinXp OS Firewall on and also Outpost Firewall for better protection ? someone told me the OS firewall acts as a back up ?? that its better?

Thanks!! :)

oh, and also could you tell me, can you have more than one Anti-Virus App running if there is no conflicts?

WinXp Firewall AND Outpost Firewall ??anti virus scan

XP firewall is basically useless as it doesn't do much to prevent OUTgoing traffic. Should you get infected with a trojan, it isn't going to do much in the way of protecting you.

Don't be so paranoid! :) you only need one good firewall and one good antivirus. Oh and NOT using internet explorer would be a good idea too, too many exploits there. Firefox is great.

WinXp Firewall AND Outpost Firewall ??ariel

No, You can't run more than one Antivirus.

Windows XP Firewall will automatic turn off if you have outpost firewall on.
No you never use more than one firewall or more than one antivirus. That is a recipe for disaster. The best protection online is a little common sense. Outpost is a very good firewall as well as Comodo if you haven't looked by the way.

Download and Run Advanced Windows Care Personal

(uncheck the Registry tab, but check the Spyware, Security and startup tabs and see what is starting up and disable harmful items. Sometimes you can run this in safe mode, which would enable you to disable harmful programs before they start in normal mode. Now, to protect your pc, you'd need not one but at least three programs: an anti-virus, an anti spyware and a firewall. I've been using for quite a long time three programs: Kaspersky AV (www.kaspersky.com), True Sword (www.securitystronghold.com) and Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro (www.agnitum.com). These programs were recommended by my friend, who is a professional programmer, so now i have no problems with any kinds of viruses, spyware or adware

Yes can some one please help me with this , i ran this program hijack this and they said to get help

Difference between ZoneAlarm and Kaspersky Internet Security?

I'm looking for the best antivirus, firewall, and general computer protection that offers good security while using minimal resources. It looks like these two are rated very good:

ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 7 - $50

Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 - $80

The ZoneAlarm is a lot cheaper, but I also read that it uses the Kaspersky anti-virus engine anyway so I'm thinking it makes sense to go with that right? Anyone recommend other internet security suites? I used to use Norton which did a good job but used up a lot of resources.

Difference between ZoneAlarm and Kaspersky Internet Security?antivirus downloads

I've used both products, I wouldn't recommend using ZA's anti-virus, but their firewall is decent and easy to use. Kaspersky is arguably the best anti-virus program you can get your hands on, but I find that the firewall can be a pain if you don't know what you're doing. If you leave Kaspersky to most of it's default settings, it scans EVERYTHING which maxes out your processor. I found the same thing with Norton/ Symantec's firewall as well.

Difference between ZoneAlarm and Kaspersky Internet Security?cafe racer

From the two that you have listed in your question, I would surely recommend you to go for "Zonealarm internet security suite 7".In most of the forum, they have rated this suite very high.

The only concern, is the firewall in the suite.Since, the firewall is a very rogue kind of firewall that I have seen.

It sometimes does not allow some of the not so legitimate sites to open.

And this is the only, concern that I have encountered.

However, everything else about the program is top-rated.

Hello would you help me with my choise Avira Classic or Avast Proffesional?

I would like to choose a free anti virus for my laptop, because I'm tired of buying programs and getting problems.

Last I was with Mcafee Total protection and I got a lot of problems.

Please help

Hello would you help me with my choise Avira Classic or Avast Proffesional?antivirus programs

It's so close it's a virtual toss-up. On one hand Avira *does* have the best detection rates of the free antivirus', but on the other hand Avast detection rates aren't that far behind, and Avast scans your email and can do a boot-time scan, which Avira can't. Then again Avira can be *scheduled* to do a scan and Avast can't. But in my own personal experience, I have several times tried Avira and have had auto update problems with it every time. This doesn't happen to a lot of people, but it does happen enough that it is far from rare. So I personally use and recommend Avast.

(I'm glad you didn't bother asking about the newb-toy, AVG, with its terrible detection rates; although I'm sure someone will advise it anyway ;-) )

Edit: My answer applies to the free versions of Avira and Avast. I didn't notice the "Professional" in your question.

Hello would you help me with my choise Avira Classic or Avast Proffesional?computer protection

I HAVE BASICALLY TRIED ALL THE FREE ONES FROM AVG TO AVAST ETC... FINALLY SETTLED ON AVIRA ... I WOULD PAY FOR THIS ... BUT ITS FREE BEEN USING A LONG TIME NOW IS GREAT SO EASY ON SYSTEM HAS GREAT RATING FROM ALL TECH MAGS .. UPDATES DAILY SO IS ON TOP OF THINGS AND HAS GOOD SCANS AS WELL ..
Avast! Pro is NOT free. Avast! Home is free for personal use. Given the choice of Avast or Avira, I recommend Avira for a much higher detection rate and faster scanning. Avast! is useful if you're using a local email client, such as Outlook Express or Outlook, as Avast plugs in to scan inbound and outbound messages.

Security issue with firewall?

I am running AVG anti virus (free)+spydoctor(purchased) and zonealarm free trial firewall pro. I would like to know what happens when the free trial stops.....would I have good protection if it reverted to the basic version?

Security issue with firewall?antivirus protection

That's all I used to use. I now just use the windows firewall. You should have good protection but as important is what you do on the Internet. Don't visit dodgy sites and don't open unknown email attachments and you should be OK.

Security issue with firewall?computer repair

The security combination you use is good, however, you will always need a firewall on, so you better just uninstall the the zone alarm pro and just use the Windows firewall, I never had problems with it. If you don't trust the Windows firewall juust use the free version of Zone Alarm (there is one). Download it from

http://freewww.uv.ro/security/security.h...
as above
I have been running avg and zonealarm free for 5 or 6 years now and have had no reason to complain as long as I install my updates from both.I've even been considering purchasing zonealarm just to have my pc protection all in one.
Yes. You will get good protection. Certain areas of the trial version will stop working, but the firewall protection will be the same as the Pro version.
have you tried file hippo, theres loads of free security stuff on there. had avg my self was OK but just bought mcafee security suit off eBay for a tenner and that gives you everything you need.
The last comment is correct. Actually, I have Zonealarm Pro and I have basically turned off all the Pro features anyway!

I'm having trouble installing AVG 7.5.?

However, when I runCCleaner it shows that Norton AntiVirus, Internet Security, and Protection Center are still on my system. Is it a problem if Unistal Kaspersky Antivirus license expired?

My license has expired. Only effect of that seems to be the message that the current anti-virus database was released 91 days ago and that a valid antivirus database is required for the application to work efficiently. I'm still able to perform scans and protection still seems to be enabled. So what's the problem if I don't renew my license? I just don't know what an antivirus database means and it doesn't tell the consequence of not having an older database.

I'm only bothered because my C: shows only 130 MB disk space no matter how many huge files delete permanently. A thought occured in my mind that may be after the license expiry the Antivirus software is not working correctly let alone efficiently.

Is it a problem if Unistal Kaspersky Antivirus license expired?antivirus software

An un-updated anti-virus program puts your computer at a HUGE risk security-wise.

Any anti-virus that is using a virus detection database that is 91 days old is about as useless as boobs-on-a-bull.

Dude, the "black-hat" malware coders release approx. 1200 new malware variants onto the internet, each and every day, 24/7. Without virus database updates, you will have no protection against these new threats.

Let's do the math....1200 X 91 = 109,200.

That's a hundred thousand threats that you are not protected against. Sure you save a few bucks by not renewing your license, but your computer is at risk and could potentially become unstable or unusable. Then about every other month, you can reformat your hard drive, lose all your files, programs and settings, and start over again.

Have you tried a system restore? In my profession this can fix a problem liek yours 50% of the time. If this doesn't work, as a professional (and I am, I promise) whenever I come accross a problem of something that can not easily be removed and may require hours of my life, I REFORMAT!! It works everytime and takes only one hour from my life. This may be te quickest way to get your PC working back to it's best performance and eliminate a law suit when you throw your PC out the window and hit someone in the head.

Seriously though, if you have done all you could find on the net about removing it and nothing has worked, take my advice and due step one, then two.
