How can I have a virus, infection-free, safe and fast computer?

I'd like some tips to prevent and delete viruses, trogan horses, worms, infections, and all that junk.

How can I keep it safe and have a strong protection against those bad things? What anti-virus program do you recommend?

Then, how can I make my computer as fast as it can go?

Lastly, my computer keeps freezing if I keep clicking something, or just sometime, then loads for about a minute, then goes back to normal. How can I stop this and make my computer respond fast? Could it be another virus thats doing this? Because I havn't had this problem before.

that opens task manager it should tell you what programs are using your computer power. if your not sure what process is from what company do not touch it and never end a process unless you know what it is . Next you should try and get rid of unused programs kinda like. stick to one kind of media player that suites you.
