Ok, I have a windows xp with dial up internet. Please don't tell me to update my internet, because right now dial up is all my mom can afford and I'm lucky to have internet in my room. So anyway. we have two computors, her computer and my computer. We both have windows xp and have the same internet service. Our computors are NOT networked or connected.But whenever I get on my mom's computer I am able to stay online for like three hours before I am bumped off, and it's rare if i ever get bumped off. With my computer I'm lucky if I am on for ten minutes before it bumps me off. We both have norton anti virus and like all the latest spyware and virus protection programs. I mainly use my computor to play the games like the sims. My mom uses hers to do school work and things like that.Why is it that my mom's computer let's me stay on longer than my computer and how can I fix it? Oh and also on both computors i have msn messanger, and just on mine i have yahoo messanger and msn.

have the phone lines checked for loose connections. try having the phone box in your room replaced with a new one.

well there may be a lot more room being taken up on ur computer than ur moms. games usually take up a lot of room so that is a possibilit.... it may also be an older/slower computer so there for it runs slower and can not process as much
I myself don't really know - could be this, could be that. But you could try calling your isp and asking them to help you troubleshoot the problem, if suggestions from others here don't help.
