Does norton eat up a lot of virtual memory? I've been noticing that I'm a little low on it. Is there an alternative anti-virus program that can be downloaded for free? I would try the AVG, but the free version offers no spy-ware protection.
Norton ant-virus ?antivirus protection
You can go ahead and install AVG 7.5.
Then add Spybot S%26D, Adaware personal, and CCleaner.
All free and use way less system resources.
Norton ant-virus ?computer repair
My advice to you is GET RID OF NORTON.
It is total garbage, the worst antivirus program on the market.
AVG free it a thousand times better, and free too.
There are many free antivirus and anti-spyware programs out there for free that work just fine.
If you don't like AVG then there is always another good one called Avast.
Spyware programs included "Spybot Search %26 Destroy", AdAware, and Ewido, and many others.
Ewido also removes viruses, and I believe it is one of the best. It has recently been taken over by AVG, but there are still downloadable Ewido programs out there. As AVG, Ewido does not work as good as it does under it's own name.
Give Panda a try, www.pandasoftware.com
I have this running on many computers and its not that bad.
Well, I use Panda and never had a problem. If you want to try some of their tools for free go to www.Infected Or Not.com That web site is part of their new campaign "Infected Or Not?" or you can go to http://www.nanoscan.com . They are all part of the same campaign.
There you can try their new products (Panda NanoScan and Panda TotalScan) for free and, in exchange, they collect statistics that are presented in the campaign's website to raise awareness on the malware infection problem.
You should try them, they have more virus definitions than anybody else and they detect all kinds of malware (viruses, trojans, worms, adware, spyware, hacking tools, etc.)
